Report back from Rally to Free Packy!
Around 100 supporters showed up today at the Oregon Zoo to rally for Packy’s release to sanctuary! This was our biggest turnout ever! Thanks to everyone who expressed great passion and energy for the elephants. Our movement is growing and we clearly communicated that fact today! Look for more photos and stories on Facebook.
Today was an amazing experience. I have been tossing and turning over the Packy situation and I really felt reassured knowing so many people have been working to better the situation of the Oregon Zoo elephants, and looking, most urgently, at Packy. I am thankful to you all for starting this movement. There are so many things in life that are important and need attention but I have thought, since I first set foot in the Oregon Zoo over six years ago, that the elephants are not in a space that in any way, shape or form, that works for them. As I am local and a few miles from the zoo and see the lines of people that flock to the zoo throughout the year, I feel obligated to get involved to help educate zoo visitors to the situation with the elephants.
Thank you for being there for Packy Kate, and Packy thanks you too.
Thank you Kate for your impassioned concern for Packy and the elephants. I invite everyone to join us on Sundays from 2 to 3pm for outreach at the zoo.
